Investec USA Holdings, part of the Investec Group, announced today that it has hired David Rappaport as general counsel. Rappaport will be responsible for legal and compliance services for Investec’s U.S.-based divisions, Investec Asset Management, Investec PMG Capital Corp. and Investec Ernst & Co.

Rappaport will play an important role in Investec USA’s international expansion by coordinating regulatory and legal issues on a global basis for the firm, according to John Murabito, CEO of Investec Ernst & Co. He will report to Murabito as well as Mark Segall, CEO of Investec PMC Capital.

Previously, Rappaport served as senior VP and general counsel for Gruntal & Co., an investment firm in New York. At Gruntal, he managed the firm’s legal and compliance departments, including capital markets, litigation, regulatory and investment advisory counsels, and served as the firm’s liaison to industry regulators.
