iShares Lehman TIPS Bond Fund Begins Trading on NYSE

iShares Lehman TIPS Bond Fund began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday, according to Barclays Global Investors.

The firm said the fund is the only exchange-traded fund that tracks "information-protected public obligations of the U.S. Treasury," which are also known as TIPS. They are income-generating instruments that are designed to protect investors from inflation. The fund has an expense ratio of 0.20% and will be managed by Barclays Global Fund Advisors, a subsidiary of Barclays Global Investors.

As of the start of September, the index contained 11 issues, all of which have at least one year until final maturity and a minimum of $200 million par outstanding.
