The holidays may not be quite as happy on Wall Street this year.
The four major exchange operators – NYSE Euronext, Nasdaq OMX Group, Direct Edge and BATS Global Markets – will be observing Christmas Eve. But not New Year’s Eve.
That means that there will be no trading this coming Friday, December 24.
But there will be trading on Friday, December 31. Because New Year’s falls on a Saturday, the exchanges all will be in operation on the day of New Year’s Eve.
This covers the NYSE, NYSE Amex, NYSE Amex Options, NYSE Arca, NYSE Arca Options, NYSE Bonds and NYSE Liffe U.S., as well as all Nasdaq markets, the two Direct Edge exchanges and the two BATS exchanges.
So, if you work at the Nasdaq market center in Times Square, just stay eight more hours after work and watch the festivities from your view out the window.
