Steven Goodbarn, the chief financial officer of Janus Capital Corporation of Denver, resigned Sept. 22, according to Jane Ingalls, a company spokesperson.
Goodbarn announced his resignation and left the firm the same day, saying he wanted to take time off and pursue other opportunities, Ingalls said. Kansas City Southern's decision to spin off Janus as part of Stilwell Financial was not a factor in his decision to leave and both sides are parting on good terms, she said.
Goodbarn's resignation follows the August resignation and departure of Jim Craig, the firm's chief operating officer. Craig left Janus to start a charitable foundation with his wife. The move sparked predictions from industry observers that Craig's departure would prompt other Janus managers to leave. (MFMN 9/4/2000)
Janus has begun searching for a new CFO and the position will be temporarily filled by Matt Luoma, vice president of accounting and taxation, Glenn O' Flaherty, treasurer and vice president of Janus' investment accounting group and Eric Montag, vice president of planning and analysis, Ingalls said.
Goodbarn had been Janus' chief financial officer since 1992.
