Of the firms evaluated, 80% have a Web site with information specifically for institutional investors, according to kasina. And among those, some provide only one page of information and an email contact address. That is a big mistake, according to Steven Miyao, CEO of kasina.
"Because institutional assets play such a critical role in the overall asset management industry, asset managers need to provide institutional investors with the same online convenience that the Web provides individual investors," said Miyao.
Still, some firms have made their institutional sites a top priority. The firms with the top 10 sites have an average of 6 people working on institutional Web efforts, and six of those expect next years institutional online budget to be bigger than this years, said Miyao.
kasinas selections are from its study, "Online Institutional Strategies," part of the companys annual study called "Asset Management e-Business: Strategies for Success", which includes the top mutual fund Web sites in several categories. That study is expected to be released in early October.
