MMC Likely to Decide Putnam Sale Soon

Marsh & McLennan Chief Executive Officer Michael Cherkasky said he hopes the decision about whether to sell Putnam is decided within the next few weeks, The Wall Street Journal reports.

“We hope to decide in January what we are doing,” he said.

Power Financial of Canada has said it is in talks to buy Putnam, and there have been widespread reports that it’s already a done deal. MMC has been accepting bids for Putnam since September.
