Money Funds Rake in $15 Billion Last Week, ICI Says

Money market fund assets tacked on $15.27 billion in the week ended April 7, according to industry trade association the Investment Company Institute. That brings their total number of assets up to $2.039 trillion.

However, retail money market funds fell by $462.2 million to $874.30 billion in the week. Taxable offerings fell $2.21 billion to $679.82 billion, while tax-exempt funds climbed $1.74 billion to $194.48 billion.

On the institutional side, the ICI reported a $15.73 billion pop in money market funds bringing the total number of assets to $1.17 trillion. Within that universe, taxable funds rose $12.36 billion to $1.06 trillion and tax-exempt funds gained $3.37 billion to $108.41 billion.
