Money Market Assets Drop $12.02 Billion

Money market fund assets dropped $12.02 billion to $2.10 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, Aug. 15, according to the Investment Company Institute.

Overall, assets in retail money market funds decreased $1.62 billion to $1.08 trillion with taxable money market fund assets declining $1.18 billion to $894.40 billion and tax-exempt fund assets sinking $434.4 million to $189.03 billion.

Institutional money market assets dropped $10.40 billion to $1.02 trillion led by taxable money market funds, which lost $10.04 billion, sinking to $947.35 trillion. Tax-exempt money market funds decreased $361.7 million to $69.87 billion, the ICI reported.
