Morgan Stanley Crossing Governance Line?

A new Morgan Stanley director has ties that may generate extra regulatory scrutiny. Roy J. Bostock is connected to a Morgan Stanley hedge fund through his son-in-law, Daniel Waters.

Waters is partner at FrontPoint Partners, a hedge fund that has been a client of a Morgan Stanley subsidiary, The New York Times reports.

In an environment of heightened regulatory awareness, family ties of board members to the company are more likely to raise questions from regulators. Even indirect connections may influence directors and make them less likely to serve as truly independent directors upholding shareholder interests.
