Morgan Stanley Names New Prime Brokerage Chief

Morgan Stanley has promoted Edward Keller to head of its U.S. prime brokerage business, according to an internal memo obtained by Investment Dealer's Digest.

Keller, who fills the post left by Patrick Mortimer in March, will continue to serve as head of Americas finance sales at Morgan Stanley.

Keller, a managing director, joined Morgan Stanley in 1994. He has served in several equity sales roles and offices, including four years in London, eight years as head of the Boston office, and three years as head of U.S. cash sales in the Americas. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he served in similar equity-financing sales roles with Lehman Brothers and E.F. Hutton, according to the memo.

UBS hired Mortimer as senior relationship manager in its prime brokerage, according to published reports. Mortimer spent more than 20 years at Morgan Stanley and will join UBS next month.
