Morningstar Appoints New CFO

Fund researcher Morningstar said today that it has appointed Martha Boudos as its new CFO. Boudos replaces Gary Burge who left the Chicago firm last year.

It was unclear why Burge left the firm. "We didn’t discuss the reason for his leaving," said Martha Conlin Moss, a spokeswoman. "We’re not sure where he is now."

The position has remained vacant for nearly a year, Conlin Moss said, because the company was "just looking for the right person."

Boudos, who joined Morningstar in 1992, has a diverse history with the company. She was a VP of human resources, overseeing recruitment and employee benefits. She also headed the company’s ClearFutures unit, which developed an online advice portal for investors. In addition, she helped develop Morningstar’s first Web site.

Before joining Morningstar, Boudos was an asset management analyst at The Boston Company, a global asset manager
