Most ETFs Remain Tiny Despite Sector's $477 Billion in Assets

Although fund companies continue to bring exchange-traded funds to market, most of the new offerings fail to gather significant assets, the Associated Press reports.

In fact, Morgan Stanley recently issued a report indicating that the 10 largest ETFs control nearly 45% of the assets, while the smallest 100 ETFs average $10 million in assets—and control a scant 0.2% of the sector’s total assets.
