National Retirement Planning Week Kicks Off

The National Retirement Planning Coalition plans a media campaign for Nov. 14 through Nov. 19, which is National Retirement Planning Week. This is the third year that the group, whose membership includes the National Association for Variable Annuities, has sponsored the event, and the second year that Ben Stein has been involved.

"Between the abysmal national savings rates, warnings about the future of Social Security, and common misconceptions about what it will take to live in retirement, now is the time for the nation to stand up and take notice," Stein said. "There is no reason why all Americans should not be adequately prepared, and this year we want to ensure that everyone has the tools and information they need to get started."

Stein’s mission is to address common retirement myths, raise consciousness on planning for the issues that arise during retirement, and teaching children about saving.
