Tom Conner, general counsel for the National Association for Variable Annuities, has left the organization for private practice. Conner, who had been with NAVA four years, will continue to work in the area of variable products as well as mutual funds in his new role as partner at Washington, D.C. firm Sutherland, Asbill, & Brennan LLC.

In his new post, Conner will use his experience working with the NAVA membership and his understanding of the business environment of financial services companies, said Steve Roth, chair of SutherlandÂ’s corporate and financial practices group.
