New Fidelity iPad App Includes Market Visualization

Fidelity has rolled out the next-generation of its Fidelity Investments for iPad app, available for free at the App Store or by updating an existing Fidelity iPad app.

The new app includes world market performance and news from Thomson Reuters, MarketWatch, Kiplinger, CNNMoney and TheStreet.com; advanced, interactive charting, including performance heat maps; videos from ThomsonReuters; and investor trends and ideas. In addition, investors can link RSS feeds from external websites to their news pages.

For those investors who want to conduct further research, Fidelity offers independent, third-party content from Zacks Investment Research, Recognia AlertWire, FirstRain News Content, Econoday Calendars and Market Movers.

“Fidelity has been a leading innovator in mobile trading and investing for more than a decade, and we remain committed to giving investors the best mobile tools available,” said Richard Blunck, executive vice president of digital distribution at Fidelity. “Given the rapid adoption of tablet computing in the last year and a half, it became especially important for Fidelity to extend its leadership position by evolving our iPad app to take full advantage of this mobile platform.”

Fidelity is also planning new iPad apps for clients of its custody and clearing units. Eleven percent of U.S. adults, or 25 million people, now own a tablet computer, according to Pew Research Center.
