Assets in exchange-traded funds grew 8.6% to $100.83 billion, according to The Investment Company Institute.
Equity index funds in this category grew 8.9%, to $97.16 billion, and bond index funds shrank 4.7%, to $3.67 billion.
Assets of domestic equity exchange-traded funds rose by $8.2 billion, and international equity fund assets fell by $42 million.
