Old Mutuals U.S. asset management group said today that it has appointed Kevin Hunt as executive VP and director of sales, marketing and project development. In addition, the firm has hired Thomas Turpin as executive VP and COO.
Both are new positions at the Boston-based asset manager. The executives will report to the firms U.S. CEO, Scott Powers.
Hunt, a former Morgan Stanley executive, will oversee the groups channel-specific distribution efforts throughout the U.S. as well as distribution in Canada and Japan. At Morgan Stanley, which he joined in 1988, Hunt oversaw the firms managed accounts business.
Turpin meanwhile will lead legal, compliance, finance, risk management and human resources divisions and will work with affiliates to establish best practices for the firm. Turpin previously worked at Putnam Investments where, starting in 1993, he worked as a chief administrative officer in the firms institutional management group. In addition, he performed the same duties for Putnams defined contribution and retail businesses and eventually became managing director and head of defined contribution plans.
"Kevins specific expertise in the managed accounts area and Toms in the defined contribution area will be key as we work to build certain channel-specific, coordinated distribution efforts," Powers said.
