Don’t let the business card fool you. Edward Plotkin is the new vice president of wealth management services at NB|AZ Wealth Management, part of the National Bank of Arizona, but he has professional roots in holistic financial planning.
Plotkin will help high-net-worth families in Arizona establish comprehensive strategies for planning and managing their assets. Early in his profession, Plotkin focused on financial and estate planning for affluent families, corporate executives and business owners at both UBS and Merrill Lynch, he said in a phone interview last Thursday.
Later on, he began advising clients on credit-related matters. Credit is an important consideration for high-net-worth clients who use private bankers, especially because those types of investors sometimes make very large purchases, like airplanes. Plotkin says working with commercial and corporate bankers was a huge draw for the position at NB|AZ Wealth Management, especially because he could bring some of his past experience to the table.
“I have a good idea of what they go through when dealing with customers, and now I can add value,” Plotkin said.
NB|AZ Wealth Management is the name that San Francisco-based Contango Capital Advisors uses to do business in Arizona. Contango is the wealth-management arm of Zions Corp., which owns the parent of National Bank of Arizona.

Fieldpoint Private Bank & Trust has recruited two financial advisory teams. H. Frazier Caner and Samuel A. Gilliland, Jr., make up the first team. They managed more than $200 million in client assets at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney previously. The second team is under David B. Rosenthal and advised on $800 million of institutional assets at Morgan Stanley Graystone Consulting.
Great-West Retirement Services has appointed John Buckley as regional sales director for the Louisiana area. In the newly created position, Buckley will be responsible for developing 401(k) plan business through brokers, financial advisers, consultants, wire houses and third-party administrators. He is based in Covington, La. Previously, Buckley was an account representative with Alta Health & Life Insurance, a division of Great-West, for two years.
