PIMCO Value Portfolio Manager Launches Own Firm

Leading value fund manager John Schneider has launched a new money management firm, JS Asset Management, based in West Conshohocken, Penn.

Schneider, who most recently oversaw $12 billion in assets for the PIMCO PEA Value and the PIMCO PEA Renaissance funds while with PEA Capital, will draw support from another recent startup, Stellate Partners of Charlotte, N.C., which was formed last year to provide backing to long-only money managers. Stellate will provide turnkey and back-office support to JS Asset Management.

"When it comes to value investing, John is simply one of the best," said Paul Greenwood, a principal at Stellate Partners. "His exceptionally strong performance has benefited nearly half a million mutual fund shareholders as well as institutional clients, and we are eager to make his services available to both these groups in the future."

While at PEA Capital, a division of the Allianz Group, Schneider guided the PIMCO PEA Value and PIMCO Renaissance funds to among the leading performers in the industry in recent years. His 19-year career began as an analyst with Wilmington Capital Management and he also served stints as director of research and a member of the investment committee at Newbolds Asset Management, as well as analyst and portfolio manager at Schneider Capital Management. He joined PIMCO in 1999 as a portfolio manager.
