PNC Provides Emergency Supplies to New York

The PNC Financial Services Group and the Mine Safety Appliances Co. (MSA) announced a partnership today to provide recovery supplies to rescuers in New York City.

PNC has paid for 5,000 hard hats and hundreds of MSA’s respirators that will be delivered to Ground Zero in New York this week where MSA personnel maintain an emergency equipment distribution site. The hard hats will be emblazoned with an American flag and the message ‘United We Stand.’

Last week, PNC announced that it would support the United Way of New York’s September 11 th Fund by matching the contributions of its 24,000 employees, dollar for dollar. Blackrock Inc., a member of the PNC Financial Services Group headquartered in New York, will also match its employee contributions to the American Red Cross, the New York Firefighters’ Memorial Fund, the Policeman’s Benevolent Association’s Widows’ and Children’s Fund and other charities supporting the rescue efforts.

The September 11 th Fund benefits the families of emergency workers who went missing after the Trade Center’s collapse rained countless tons of rubble on the streets of lower Manhattan. Donations from MSA associates worldwide will be matched by the company as well as other individuals and organizations.
