Prudential Financial has appointed Joseph D’Onofrio as managing director for its European subsidiary, Prudential International Investments Financial. He will also serve as deputy managing director of BPB Prumerica Global Investments SGR, which is an Italian joint venture with Banca Popolare di Bergamo Credito Varesino.

In addition, D’Onofrio will serve as a member of the BPB Prumerica board of directors and executive committee. Prumerica is the brand name Prudential uses in certain cases overseas.

D’Onofrio will oversee Prudential’s business strategy in Europe, the company said in a statement, including product development, sales, marketing and new joint ventures.

He was previously CEO of Prudential Investments Japan. Before he joined the company in 1998, he worked for Fidelity Management and Research Company in Boston and served as an executive VP of Fidelity Brokerage Services.
