Putnam Talking Settlement with SEC (Again)

Putnam Investments is in talks with the Securities and Exchange Commission to settle a problem with performance fees. In February of 2004, Putnam revealed that the SEC raised questions regarding performance fees in the Putnam Research Fund.

Now, the company may finally be close to settling the matter with the SEC's Ft. Worth office, Reuters reports. Putnam earlier revealed that it had not fully complied with regulations on performance fees and that adjustments to the fee structure may be part of the ultimate solution.
