Quantitative Advantage, a Minneapolis-based money manager that specializes in separately managed accounts, announced Tuesday that CheckFree APL will be its administrator in that sector.

"CheckFree APL gives us a steering wheel to efficiently trade with each custodian," said Quantitative President John Wing.

CheckFree is the nation’s No. 1 source for portfolio management and reporting services in SMAs. Wing said having CheckFree administer SMAs will become a focal point of its marketing strategy.

The executive vice president of CheckFree, Alex Marasco, said of his new partner: "Quantitative Advantage is making a name for itself with the firm's innovative portfolio strategy."

The Adaptive Risk Management System (ARMS) of Quantitative, one of its key investment styles, is a non-market timing buy-and-hold strategy that has helped it grow quickly over the past several years.
