Raymond James Lures $2.2M Team From UBS

Raymond James lured a $2.2 million team from UBS over to the regional brokerage's employee channel.

The five-member team oversaw more than $300 million in client assets while working for the wirehouse, according to Raymond James.

Group members Alex Bryan, Ryan Bartley, Robert Torney, Patti Steffens and Tina Noelopened the first Raymond James employee office in Northern Vermont, according to company spokesperson. They operate as Catamount Financial Advisors of Raymond James, out of South Burlington.

Bryan started his career in 1980 with E.F. Hutton and later joined McDonald Investments, staying on with the firm until it was purchased by UBS in 2007. Bartley, who started off his career Morgan Stanley in 2001, and moved to McDonald Investments in 2003 where he partnered with Bryan.

Both joined the Raymond James employee channel for its broad range of investment services, ranging from financial planning to investment management.

"The financial landscape is changing, and changing quickly,” says Bartley. “We were excited to discover the customizable marketing services, including integration of social media and the higher level support we need to run our practice in a manner that is in the best interest of our clients.”

Raymond James with nearly 6,400 financial advisors and total client assets of about $505 billion has been on a spree to build its employee network in the Northeast and pacific coast states. Last month, the company brought on board teams worth approximately $3.4 billion in client assets, mostly from Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
