Red-Hot ETFs Cool in April

Total assets in the country's exchange traded funds in April fell 3.6% to $220.59 billion, according to the Investment Company Institute. The ICI also said that the total assets in the country's closed-end funds stood at $259.65 billion at the end of March.

Last month, equity index ETF assets fell by $8.66 billion to $208.75 billion, while bond index ETF assets shot up by $528 million to $11.84 billion. Assets of domestic equity ETFs decreased by $8.14 billion, and international equity ETF assets decreased by $518 million.

Total closed-end fund assets rose $5.34 billion during the first quarter. Equity fund assets increased by $5.69 billion to $87.22 billion, and bond fund assets decreased by $355 million to $172.43 billion.
