RIA Leader Capital Names Carmack Co-Portfolio Manager

RIA and broker-dealer Leader Capital has bumped Scott Carmack up to the position of co-portfolio manager.

In his new role, Carmack will work alongside founder and senior portfolio manager John Lekas to help oversee investment operations of the Leader Short Term Bond Fund and Leader Total Return Fund.

“We’re pretty bullish on the market in 2012 as a firm, and I’m excited to come on board,” said Carmack.

Before becoming co-portfolio manager, Carmack had spent one year with Leader Capital as a fixed-income analyst. Prior to that, he was a proprietary trader at Chimera Securities and a high net-worth fixed-income analyst at J.P. Morgan in New York.

“I think at the end of the day John just realizes two heads are better than one,” Carmack said. “I’ve been doing a lot of research over the last year and been involved in management and strategy as well.”

Lekas founded the Portland-based firm in 1997. It currently specializes in fixed-income investment management and oversees around $360 million in assets.
