S&P says the assessments provide in-depth analysis and evaluations that can both enhance a fund managers reputation and provide investors with tools to compare different managers and fund types.
Each report evaluates the consistency between a fund's objectives and its manager's performance record, organizational structure, operations and investment processes, among other factors. The Real Estate Equity Fund Manager Assessments evaluate a manager's potential to achieve its stated goals, the S&P says.
"Especially with the recent flight into real estate and other alternative investments brought on by a lackluster equity market and unattractive bond yields, a resource such as Standard & Poor's Fund Manager Assessments makes it more practical to invest in real estate fund product," said Gale Scott, managing director of real estate finance at S&P.
