The former chief executive of OppenheimerFunds parent Mass Mutual Financial Group, Robert O'Connell, is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission. O'Connell was fired from the firm in June on grounds of misconduct.
The company made the revelation of the SEC investigation in court proceedings in Connecticut, where it is seeking to stop regulators from airing its internal inquiry into O'Connell, according to the Boston Globe.
But according to Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the papers must be released due to a Freedom of Information Act request put out by a Hartford newspaper.
