SEC Investigating Wachovia's Fund Sales Practices

The Securities and Exchange Commission's probe into Wachovia Corp. has broadened, as inquiries into mutual fund sales practices now include its asset management unit, Evergreen Investment Services, Reuters reports.

Wachovia commented on the fist investigation previously, saying that it believed the SEC was trying to see how well Wachovia Securities disclosed payments received from investment firms for selling their funds.

In a new filing, Wachovia said Evergreen's sales practices are also under investigation.
