SF Firm Snags Alliance Exec

Montgomery Asset Management has hired former Alliance Capital Management sales executive Christopher White as a director of institutional and retail sales. Bill Santos, head of mutual fund distribution, will assume a broader marketing role with his promotion to the position of chief marketing officer.

White, who most recently served as SVP and national sales manager for Alliance, will focus in particular on the institutional defined benefit and defined contribution market. White reports to Bill Santos.

Santos will manage product development, marketing, and sales, for all product lines across Montgomery's three business channels: institutional, financial intermediary and direct sales. He joined Montgomery last May after the implosion of joint venture Scudder Weisel, where he had served as COO. He will continue to report to CEO Scott Tuck.

His new role coincides with the expansion of Montgomery's product portfolio into the alternative investing arena. As Santos transitions into the position of CMO, Montgomery will undertake filling the vacancy at the helm of the mutual funds.

"As he takes on the broader responsibilities, someone will be brought onto the role there," said Montgomery spokesperson Ed Dunn.
