Site That Collects Data on Advisers Bears Fruit

Rydex Global Advisors has started releasing data gathered on AdvisorBenchmarking.com, a site designed to learn more about fee-oriented financial advisers.

In a preliminary look at the practices of approximately 650 advisers, the data shows that over a third of new assets come from IRA rollovers. More than one-fifth comes from clients shifting away from full-service brokerage.

The data is supplied from confidential, online surveys. When filling out the online survey, advisers can compare their practices to those of other advisers who have filled out the survey. The site allows them to return to compare their responses when a broader sample of results has been filed.

Nearly 40% of advisers who filled out survey said they rely on passive referrals for new clients, leaving room for more referrals from professional affiliates such as CPAs and attorneys, according to Rydex.
