She is now tasked with finding ways to retain Muhlenkamps current investors and garner new ones by personalizing the firms services and offering more investor education resources, she said. To that end, she spent the first days of September mining Muhlenkamps database for information about shareholders.
"I thought the most logical thing to do would be to understand who are our direct shareholders and what kinds of relationships [we] have," she said. That includes gathering data on the number of times investors call for information and the types of information those investors seek. She is also looking to the data to find out the "types of accounts that are contained in a shareholder household so we can hold on to those," she said.
