Stock, Fund, Bond Pricing To Go Way Back in Time

Information from the historical databases for U.S. stock, indices, bond and mutual fund securities maintained by the Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) at the University of Chicago School of Business will be integrated into the upcoming release of financial analytical tools made by Insightful Corp., of Seattle.

The tools, gathered under the umbrella of a product called Finance Suite, form an analytic software platform that allows financial analysts to rapidly develop, test and deploy new asset-management applications that optimize performance while controlling risk.

The suite, expected to be released this spring, uses the latest visual-programming paradigm to combine financial data with cutting-edge financial analytics that simplify the creation of new models. It gives analysts a scalable, comprehensive and flexible data analysis platform for solving high-value business problems in all facets of asset management.

"Leaders in corporate and academic communities rely on CRSP's historical databases for financial, economic and accounting research," said Christopher Myers, director of database research at CRSP.
