Stocks Mixed Following Lackluster Home Sales Report

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 45.57 points to finish at 13,124.62 Wednesday while the Nasdaq rose 1.17 points to close at 3,075.32.

The S&P 500 trimmed 2.63 points to end at 1.402.89.

The National Association of Realtors reported that a disconcerting 0.9% decline in existing home sales in February and, perhaps more troubling, a spike in housing inventory.

Dow Jones Industrial Average:

·         Down two consecutive trading days and three of the last four sessions.

·         Down 114.51 points, or 0.86%, over the two-day period.

·         Largest two-day points and percentage decline since March 07, 2012.

·         An intraday high of 13190.02 occurred at 09:44:40 today, representing an increase of 19.83 points, or 0.15%.

·         An intraday low of 13112.93 occurred at 11:00:16 today, representing a decrease of 57.26 points, or 0.43%.

·         Nine of the 30 component stocks rose, 20 fell, one was unchanged.

·         Today's top five contributors to The Dow's movement and their point contribution: KO (4.01), IBM (3.33), HD (3.10), VZ (1.14), AXP (1.06).

·         Today's bottom five laggards: CAT (-13.32), CVX (-8.85), MCD (-7.04), TRV (-4.92), XOM (-4.47).

·         Down 7.34% from its record close of 14164.53 on October 09, 2007.

·         Up 100.47% from its 12-year closing low of 6547.05 on March 9, 2009.

·         Up 8.59% from 52 weeks ago.

·         Up 6.19% from its 2012 closing low of 12359.92 on January 06, 2012.

·         Down 0.97% from its 52-week high of 13252.76 on March 15, 2012.

·         Up 23.17% from its 52-week low of 10655.30 on October 03, 2011.

·         Month-to-date: up 1.33%.

·         Year-to-date: up 7.42%.
