Stocks Slide on China Worries

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 68.94 points to close at 13,170.19 Tuesday while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 lost 4.17 points and 4.23 points, respectively.

Investors were somewhat discouraged by some unsettling news and economic data from China including word that it would increase gasoline and diesel prices by 6 to 7%, the biggest increase in nearly three years.

Meanwhile, oil prices fell below $106 a barrel on news that Saudi Arabia would adjust its production to offset any shortfalls in global oil supplies.
