Strong Names Interim Chief Of Fixed Income Investing

Strong Financial Corp., parent company of investment management firm Strong Capital Management, has named Jay Mueller as interim director of fixed income, the company announced last week.

Mueller joined Strong in 1991. He is currently serving as the firm's economist as well as portfolio manager of the firm's taxable money market mutual funds and corporate cash portfolios.

Mueller replaces Jeffrey Tank, who is leaving the firm. Strong did not return calls by press time as to why Tank was leaving. Tank was a member of Strong's executive management group. Strong has not yet named Tank's replacement for that group.

Tank also served as portfolio manager for Strong's separately managed institutional accounts and co-portfolio manager for several Strong mutual funds.

Frank Koster, who joined Strong in 1999, will take over as the portfolio manager for the separately managed institutional accounts.
