John Graf has been named vice chairman of SunAmerica, a member of American International Group (AIG), responsible for the firm's fixed annuity business, group retirement products, and broker-dealer operations. He was also named to SunAmerica's board of directors.
Graf was most recently senior vice chairman, asset accumulation, at American General. Following AIG's acquisition of American General in August of this year, the firm combined American General's asset accumulation business, which includes retirement services and mutual fund operations, with that of SunAmerica.
Graf joined American General in 1998 as president of retirement services when the firm acquired Western National Corp. At Western, he served as chief marketing and administrative officer.
In his new position, Graf will report to Jay Wintrob, SunAmerica's CEO.
