The Hartford Adds Wealth Management Exec

The Hartford this week named Michael Gregg as head of strategic markets for its wealth management unit where he’ll oversee the firm’s strategic relationships, advanced markets and merger and acquisitions activities.

Gregg, who will report to David Levenson, president of The Hartford’s wealth management unit, joins the Simsbury, Conn.-based provider of insurance and wealth management services from AXA Global Distributors where he was managing director of a new business dedicated to providing guaranteed investment products through third-party distributors in Europe and Asia.

“I’m excited to take on this newly created position at The Hartford,” Gregg said in a statement. “The team has done a great job assembling capabilities that give the company a unique position in the market, and I look forward to working with them to find innovative ways to expand and complement the existing businesses.”

Gregg previously held the title of senior vice president of wholesale strategy and operations and head of AXA’s strategic initiatives group.

“We’re very pleased to have someone of Michael’s caliber joining us to lead a critical part of our business, covering strategic relationships, advanced markets, M&A activity and strategic initiatives,” Levenson said in a statement.
Gregg has a bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Massachusetts and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
