Treasury Undersecretary Calls for More Hedge Fund Regs

U.S Treasury Undersecretary Randall Quarles believes that regulators should consider more comprehensive oversight of hedge funds, Reuters reports.

"Hedge funds might be the area of regulation where there is most room for improvement in our approach," Quarles said at a panel on financial regulation organized by the Institute of International Finance.
According to Quarles, changes in the structure of the capital markets industry have altered the way markets manage and disperse risk.

Quarles went on to say: "Is there a policy response that's appropriate in the light of that or not? That's a question that has not been comprehensively asked in the official sector, at least in the United States."
