UBS Grabs Advisors With $1.7B in Assets From Rival Firms

UBS Wealth Management Americas has snapped up several financial advisor teams and four individual financial advisors previously working with more than $1.7 billion in client assets.

The largest producing team of those hires includes Matthew Kilgroe, Peter Frantzis and Tommy Kidwell, who join UBS in St. Petersburg, Fla., from Merrill Lynch. The team, which operates under the name Kilgroe Frantzis and Associates, previously had about $540 million in client assets under management and about $4 million in annual fees and commissions. They report to central Florida complex director Gregory Kadet and St. Petersburg branch manager Jim Tarantino.

In Roanoke, Va., UBS has hired a Morgan Stanley Smith Barney team including Nelson Link, Michael Kemp and Cynthia Shively. They previously oversaw more than $317 million in client assets and had about $3.2 million in annual production. They operate under the name Meridian Wealth Management and report to Virginia complex director Carl Chaput.

In Troy, Mich., another Merrill Lynch team led by James “Brad” Cross and Bradford Vannelli, joins UBS. That team—called the Cross & Vannelli Group—previously had more than $259 million in client assets under management and about $1.69 million in annual fees and commissions. They report to complex director Michael Gatewood.

In addition to those teams, UBS also hired four individual financial advisors.

In Fort Myers, Fla., Eric Hynden joins from FSC Securities and Thomas Burt joins from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Hynden previously had more than $156 million in client assets under management and about $1.35 million in annual fees and commissions. Burt previously oversaw more than $150 million in client and had about $1.3 million in annual production. They both report to director and branch manager Matthew Welborn.

In Paramus, N.J., Gregory Kenzik joins from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where he previously had about $180 million in client assets under management and $2.8 million in annual fees and commissions. Kenzik reports to executive director and complex director Brian Cain.

In Greenville, S.C., Jim Yarbrough joins from Scott & Stringfellow, where he oversaw more than $131 million in client assets and had about $1.17 million in annual production. Yarbrough reports to director and branch manager H. Marvin Beasley.
