Unemployed Willing to Dip Into Retirement Savings

More than one in three workers would consider dipping into their retirement savings early if they were to lose their job, despite knowing the consequences of an early withdrawal, according to a recent survey by American Century Investments.

The 37% of workers who would take out money early in the event of losing their jobs represents a five percentage point increase over the figure in last year's installment of the survey.

The survey was drawn from telephone interviews with 1,025 adults, with 519 of them men and 506 women, all 18 and older.
