U.S. Bank Wealth Management has a new chief investment officer.

Eric Freedman was lured away from Captrust Financial Advisors, an independent investment advisory firm where he'd been serving as chief investment officer for more than a decade.

Freedman succeeds Tim Leach, who retired in July.

Freedman will direct U.S. Bank Wealth Management's Asset Management Group and lead its investment management business strategy and policies.

At Captrust, Freedman reported to the CEO and was responsible for helping grow the company into one of the largest RIAs in the country, according to U.S. Bank. Prior to that, he was a senior portfolio manager for Franklin Street Partners, a role he held for more than a year.

"Eric represents everything we were looking for in our next CIO," Mark Jordahl, president of U.S. Bank Wealth Management, said in a statement. "His drive, deep knowledge of the market, and commitment to exploring comprehensive investment options on behalf of clients aligns well with our culture."
