U.S Trust Continues Expansion

U.S Trust hired nine senior wealth management experts to their California, Arizona and Washington operations as part of their wealth management expansion efforts.

The new senior management additions will operate as part of an on-going initiative designed to meet the growing need of high-net-worth clients in the main markets across the US. A tenth U.S. Trust employee was promoted as well.

“We have highly sophisticated clients, and they expect us to have the breadth and quality of talent needed to develop innovative solutions to complex wealth challenges,” said Thong Nguyen, U.S. Trust west division executive, in a statement.

A spokesman confirmed in a telephone interview that the expansion includes:

Susanna Yao, a private client manager in San Francisco who managed more than $100 million in assets for domestic and off-shore clients specializing in cash management, will now serve the Asian market outreach and development division at U.S. Trust. Before moving to U.S Trust, she worked in Citigroup’s wealth management unit.

Melody Hom, another San Francisco private wealth manager, joins from Wells Fargo private banking wealth management group where she managed more than 300 private banking relationships. Hom has more than 31 years of industry experience.

Nancy Barrett, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based private client adviser, joins from Bernstein Global Wealth Management and has roughly 20 years of wealth management industry experience. At Bernstein, she advised high-net-worth individuals and families. Barrett will report to Marc Compton, U.S. Trust’s western regional market executive.

Rod Halvorson, a Los Angeles private client adviser, has more than 25 years of experience. Halvorson joined as an internal appointment from U.S. Trust’s Merrill Lynch Wealth Management division where he served as complex director and some of his duties included: managing sales, recruitment training, retention of advisors among other duties.

Pamela Chen, a Century City, Calif.-based portfolio manager, co-managed a $1 billion market neutral equities portfolio in the healthcare, materials and telecom sectors at SSI Investment Management in Beverly Hills before joining U.S. Trust.

Dave Schumacher, an Arizona-based senior portfolio manager previously managed private client portfolios at Northern Trust Company, where he was responsible for 50 relationships with approximately $700 million in client assets.

José Romero, a Seattle-based senior portfolio manager was a former vice president and senior portfolio manager at Bank of New York Mellon, he has more than 14 years of experience and his specialty is serving the investment needs of private clients and nonprofit organizations.

Justin Rolfe, a seven-year veteran who also works in Seattle, is a portfolio manager joining from Wells Fargo Private Bank.

Richard Stice, another Seattle-based senior portfolio manager was recruited from Rigel Capital, where he was co-lead portfolio manager for large-cap growth and concentrated strategies. Before his position at Rigel Capital, Stice served as a Senior Associate Director at Standard & Poor’s Equity Research in New York.

Judy Milam, who has worked in for U.S. Trust for 24 years in Santa Barbara, Ca., overseeing complex trusts, was promoted to senior officer.
