Van Kampen, First American Win VA Mandates

Sage Life Assurance of America, Inc. has expanded its variable annuity investment options with the addition of five new portfolios from First American Funds and Van Kampen Asset Management, Inc.

Stamford, Ct.-based Sage currently offers 26 subaccounts managed by other fund groups, including AIM, Fred Alger Management, INVESCO, MFS, and Oppenheimer Funds. According to Info-One/VARDS, annuity policies offer an average of 33 subaccounts.

First American will manage the Small Cap Growth, Technology, and International portfolios. Sage currently offers a small cap portfolio managed by Fred Alger. The carrier also offers a global equity portfolio managed by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Investment Management.

Van Kampen will manage the LIT Growth and Income and LIT Emerging Growth portfolios. Sage also offers growth and income portfolios through Fred Alger and AIM.
