Vanguard Among Fortune's Top 100 Companies to Work for

The Vanguard Group has announced that Fortune Magazine has recognized it as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" in 2006. Ranking 60th on the list, this year marks the sixth consecutive year, in which Vanguard has been recognized by Fortune as a top employer.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Fortune Magazine as an employer of choice for 2006," said Kathleen C. Gubanich, human resources managing director at Vanguard. "We value the hard work and dedication of our crew and remain committed to providing them with a world-class working experience."

When choosing the winners, Fortune placed consideration on workplace practices and culture, as well as a survey of randomly selected employees. The companies are also scored on credibility, respect, fairness and pride.

The company recognized as the best to work for was Genentech, considered to be the founder of the biotechnology industry. In second place was Wegmans Food Markets, and in third place was Valero Energy.
