Vanguard Files to Offer ETF Shares on Four Bond Funds

Vanguard filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday to offer exchange-traded shares on four existing bond funds: the Vanguard Total Bond Market Index, the Vanguard Short-Term Bond Index, the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Bond Index and the Vanguard Long-Term Bond Index funds.

“With Vanguard’s equity ETFs gaining momentum in the marketplace, we look forward to broadening our offerings with a series of bond ETFs,” said Gus Sauter, chief investment officer at Vanguard. He noted that assets in the firm’s ETFs nearly doubled last year to $22 billion.

“These four Vanguard bond ETFs will provide investors with broadly diversified exposure to the entire U.S. bond market and discrete segments of the market at an extremely low cost of 0.11%.”
