Vanguard Launches Revamped Investor Web Site

The Vanguard Group has launched a redesigned Web site in an effort to make it easier for its investors to make their own investment decisions and manage their own investment portfolios, the company announced today.

The updated site is intended to offer Vanguard investors "a more comprehensive look" at their investments by providing professional-grade analytical tools and research capabilities, said Kate Nelson, a company spokeswoman.

The site features new analytical tools, consolidated Vanguard account information including fund, IRA, brokerage and retirement plan holdings and personalized performance data.

Currently, only Vanguard products can be viewed as an overall portfolio snapshot, but the firm is planning to add an account aggregation tool to the site in the future, allowing investors to include outside products, Nelson said.

The site also allows users to view their Vanguard portfolio’s rate of return and compare the net amount invested with the portfolio’s most current value. In addition, users can access research on stocks, bonds, annuities and other funds and the site will have transactional capabilities, allowing them to buy, sell or exchange funds, stocks and bonds, as well as open new accounts.
