Vanguard has contracted with Verid to verify customers’ identities when they open an account over the telephone or online.

Customers will now be prompted through Verid’s knowledge-based authentication (KBA) platform, which asks them a series of multiple-choice questions unique to each individual.

“Knowledge-based authentication significantly raises our confidence about an individual’s identity,” said Vanguard Principal Tim Thornton.

“Vanguard recognizes KBA helps protect people against identity theft, whether they are current customers or not.”
