Vista Fund Invests in Private Equity

A new mutual fund from Vista Research and Management will give these investors to a corner of the investment management world rarely available to them: private equity.

The Listed Private Equity Plus Fund will achieve this by investing in publicly traded private equity and venture capital companies, as well as those that supply expansion, buy-out and mezzanine financing.

Its goal is to outperform the MSCI World Index while providing the low correlation to broad market indexes that an alternative asset class, such as private equity, offers.

“Until now, only institutions and the wealthiest investors have been able to benefit from participation in the global private equity sector,” said Steven R. Samson, chief executive officer at Vista. “The Listed Private Equity Plus Fund represents a unique opportunity and potential long-term investment solution for investors seeking access to this sector without the high minimums, reduced liquidity, long lock-up or investor qualification requirements generally associated with traditional private equity investing.”

While the number of listed private equity firms may not be very large now, it is expected to grow substantially around the world over the next several years, Samson said.
