Webster Nabs Boston Private Bank Exec

Webster Private Bank has snagged a senior executive from Boston Private Bank and Trust Co. to build out Webster's local private banking team in Boston.

Christopher J. O'Connell joined Webster as senior vice president, senior private banker and regional market executive for Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition to expanding the private banking team, O'Connell will direct the growth of the private banking business in Boston and the surrounding region, Webster said.

O'Connell is based in Boston and reports to Peter Gabriel, director of relationship management and sales for Webster Private Bank. As part of his role, he will work with the commercial banking team to extend the Webster Private Bank franchise into Massachusetts and Rhode Island, said Daniel FitzPatrick, head of Webster Private Bank.

O'Connell was previously a senior vice president and manager of investment sales at Boston Private Bank and Trust Co. He served for seven years in the U.S. Army where he underwent airborne, ranger and pathfinder training while serving as an infantry officer and earning the rank of captain.

"Above and beyond his more than 25 years of experience in the wealth management industry, Chris brings exemplary leadership skills to the table," FitzPatrick said in a statement.
